Developing Teams
Teams are often overlooked in change efforts. Our experience of working with teams to develop their effectiveness centres around the culture that the team creates. We explore the factors that help a team become and remain successful and help them to embed them into habits of success.
We engage with in-tact teams to help them focus collectively on boosting the effectiveness of their contribution to strategy delivery using a range of pragmatic methods and introduce measures to better track the team’s progress.
Our team assessments use a combination of team survey and a collective view of the individual robust psychometric assessments to create a meaningful picture of the team’s strengths and areas for action. The resulting ‘team improvement plan’ provides a clear agenda for the team’s ongoing performance.
We focus on the team culture to establish the context for the team’s performance. Using measures of effectiveness to gauge areas of strength and risk we help the team to identify relevant performance targets that will deliver tangible outcomes for the team and their key stakeholders.
Once a team has a clear agenda and has identified the critical behaviours needed for success it needs to deliver against its plan in every-day situations. Our team coaching service allows us to work with the team in a practical way and provide coaching to the team around its performance against the newly defined standards.
Our team coach works closely with the team leader and each member of the team to support and challenge the behaviours necessary for team performance. A series of interactions and observed activities provide a rich source of objective and constructive feedback to support the team’s development.
We support the team as it grows and develops its capability to perform at higher levels. We achieve his through a combination of structured development activities and informal support mechanisms aimed at effective team delivery.
Exploring the nature of the team, it’s core purpose and the values and principles by which it operates allows us to build the team agenda and create a charter around which the team can operate. When combined with the team assessment and coaching support this powerful intervention provides a boost to the team’s development.
